| Thoughts after last night's special show |
[May. 25th, 2008|06:03 pm] |
Last night was Pop Garden Radio's 3rd Anniversary. It was also my first show on the air after a month without a show. It felt so good to be behind the mic once again.
I started in my new start time of 7pm, which is a big moved up from the 10pm of the last year and original 2am start time in 2005. The station told me that I could go all night if I wanted to, so I planned on going until 1am. It was a very fast 6 hours, and I loved every second of it.
Lots of artists sent in special messages for me to play on the air, and one even recorded a new closing theme song for me. The Smith Bros came up with a great pop song to end the show, and now I can alternate between that and the SKooBER song that I have had for a year. They are both unique, but I love them both. It always amazes me when artists will record something for the show.
I have posted the full 6 hour show to my podcast, if anyone wants to check it out. http://popgardenradio.podbean.com/
The station is now happily in the new building and at the new AM1300 frequency. It's closer to home for me too, so that's a great bonus.
For the most part, life is very good right now. Can you imagine, I'm not complaining about anything.

| Can't trust this day |
[Jan. 7th, 2008|07:08 am] |
Here we are at Monday again. With my schedule, the weekend is really just a few hours on Sunday. It is typical to find me doing a whole mess of nothing, catching up for the long day before. I do love my day job, and now that radio is in my blood, I can't imagine being without it.
Now, as I get ready for the day, I have to wonder if everything will go as scheduled today. You have to love those early morning thoughts that make no sense. |

| Ok, it's been way too long |
[Dec. 29th, 2007|05:22 pm] |
Let's see, what is new in the world of Adam. Well, I now live in a super cool house on the river (not a van) in melbourne. Pop Garden Radio is going strong. Work at ISD is fantastic, and I love every second of it.
The Rick Nelson tribute CD is kicking in again. We have some exciting new tracks coming in over the next month, and I am confident that this project will be a success. People seem to really enjoy the tracls that I have posted at www.myspace.com/foolsrushintribute , so that's good.
I wonder if people still read this LJ. I haven't touched it since April.

I am indeed still around. I live in Melbourne now, not far from the station. I was just in Los Angeles for a while. I know that the last time that I updated this thing was February, and I apologize. |

| Roger Joseph Manning Jr on Pop Garden Radio this week |
[Feb. 7th, 2007|10:23 pm] |
In a way, I somehow can't believe it myself. Talk about a music geeks dream come true.
My interview with Roger Joseph Manning Jr will air on this weekend's Pop Garden Radio. We spoke at length about his new solo record, The Land of Pure Imagination, as well as his experiences in Jellyfish.
We talked about the new Jellyfish tribute, Sensory Lullabies too. I will be debuting the track "Hello," as performed by the Sonic Executive Sessions, and I was able to ask Roger his thoughts on the song.
It wouldn't be Pop Garden Radio without some special tracks and great Pop music from all ends of the Pop genre.
I can promise you that this week's edition of Pop Garden Radio is not one to miss.
I hope to see all of you on the radio this Saturday night, starting at Midnight (12:05am eastern) on www.920wmel.com and www.popgardenradio.com and on the air at 920 WMEL in Melbourne, FL.

| Nelson Bragg at the WMEL studios |
[Jan. 7th, 2007|02:05 pm] |
My Artist in Bloom on last night's Pop Garden Radio was Nelson Bragg. Nelson is a member of Brian Wilson's band, as well as the Mockers and the Now People. He has just released his first solo along, Day Into Night.
I had a great time hanging out with him during the evening. I will post the interview to www.popgardenradio.com soon so that everyone can hear the fun that we had.

| Wow...what a month |
[Nov. 12th, 2006|04:07 pm] |
Some may be wondering why I haven't posted much lately. Well, there has been a lot of stuff happening lately.
I believe that i told everyone about the power surge/fire that has rendered me semi-homeless. Well, I am still struggling to find the time to gut out the old place. Luckily, I can still stay at my Mother's for a while.
I was in a car accident this past Friday morning. I hit a deer and did some serious damage to my car. I'm OK, and that's the important thing. Mind you, that morning, I was a complete mess. My nerves were all a jumble and I was in some serious pain. I felt better after I got about 4 hours of sleep. I'm in a rental for a week or so while my car gets repaired. Fun times.
I am going to try my best to keep this LJ updated. I used to post here everyday, and now it's once a month, at best. That is just not right. |

It has been two weeks since the power surge and fire, and I am still not finsihed moving. I am going to end up taking time off from work to get everything finished. Needless to say, I am not looking forward to all of this. |

| Crazy Dancing Horses (new video on YouTube) |
[Aug. 27th, 2006|09:48 pm] |
The ultimate Fat Man Dancing video: bad dancing, bad editing and "Crazy Horses" by the Osmonds. (I sure do point a lot, don't I?) This one cracks me up, and I'm the one dancing. 8/27/06 at the WMEL studios. Please laugh with me!!

| | Cockeyed Ghost - "Where's My Best Friend?" | ] | It's been a while, but I have been feeling a little dizzy as of late. It started last night. I was actually in bed and asleep by 11pm last night. I woke up and was so out of it. My tongue hurt like hell as I had been chewing on it during the night. I went back to sleep after calling work. Right now, I am just sort of blah. I am going to attempt to drive to the station tonight, although I know that I shouldn't.
I have so much to do. I have packages that are well overdue to be mailed. One, going to the UK, should have gone out last month. I have copies of the show to get out to my guests. I really need an 8th day in the week so that I can catch up. A day like today desn't do me any good because now I'll be a whole day behind at work.
Apart from that, everything is quite peachy. |

| Pain and a different kind of pain |
[Jul. 29th, 2006|02:04 pm] |
I had some emergency dental surgery done this Thursday, and I have pretty much been in pain since last Sunday. I have some good meds and all, but the pain is still there. They removed 3 teeth on Thursday. Tonight's radio show should be a treat because talking is not an easy thing to do.
Somewhere along the line, I really made a dear friend mad. I'm not 100% sure what I did, or how I did it, but things just aren't right. Maybe it's the pain and the meds that have my mind in a difficult state, but everytime that she and I talk now, I just feel a coldness. Maybe I am trying too hard and looking for something that is actually there and I just can't see it. I'd love to feel normal again. |

| updates |
[Jul. 17th, 2006|10:23 am] |
My Dad came home yesterday. He ended up not having a seizure while he was in the hospital. That is somewhat of a bummer because that made the whole week all for nothing. He will most likely have to do it all over again in another month or so. He went from working 70+ hours a week to doing nothing, and his body enjoyed the rest. The fact that he was without meds didn't really matter because his body thought it was on vacation.
I'm exhausted and drained. I do have a few joy spots in the day, in the week, and I love those happy moments. Sometimes the phone rings and it's a good thing.
Still apartment hunting. I'd even consider getting a place with a budy who might want to live in the Melbourne area. |

| My Dad |
[Jul. 11th, 2006|06:52 pm] |

My father is now at St Luke's hospital in Jacksonville. He has a seizure disorder that has been very bad recently. After a dozen or so trips to the Mayo clinic, they determined that he is eligible for this new type of test. He is there for a week, with no meds. He is hooked up like a robot so that they can capture 3 seizures. It's going to be a horrible week for him, that is for certain. Once they determine where the seizures are, they will go in and remove that portion of his brain. Pretty serious stuff, I must say. |

| Feeling like I belong |
[Jul. 4th, 2006|11:03 pm] |
Getting emails from artists that I have long admired where they are asking me for advice on songs to choose.
Getting phones from some of those same artists.
Getting those fan emails from people who listen to the show.
Hearing my dear friend still asking "Fuzzy, I think you need a sidekick."
Getting invited to the Gonzalez' for their 4th of July celebration.
When Christa calls to say "Goodnight" just as she's about to fall asleep.
When everyone at work comes by my desk to hang out and share my candy.
Still hearing 'I waffle Uncle Walty' years after the last time those words were spoken.
Sometimes, yeah, I do feel like I belong around here. It's a good feeling. |

| Adam and the Nelson Twins |
[Jun. 25th, 2006|09:38 pm] |
Last night, I traveled to Stuart, FL to see the Gunnar and Matthew Nelson perform a tribute show for their father, Rick Nelson. It was an amazing show.
I've been in contact with Gunnar over the last few months regarding a Rick Nelson tribute CD that I am putting together. It was great to get to meet the guys and talk about the project. The two of them are just as nice and friendly as you would imagine they would be.
Here is a picture of Matthew, myself and Gunnar.
